Relics
Multiple Centuries
- The Alexamenos graffito 3RD century CE. It doesn't say Jesus or Christians. It depicts a person with their head replaced with a donkey or jackal, possibly on a cross while standing on a platform.
- Santa Maria in Palmis footprints of Jesus. They don't resemble real footprints.
- Holy Prepuce: Jesus' foreskin. A claim made by as many as 31 churches. Maybe it kept growing back?
- Megiddo Mosaic: Mosaic found in a Church dated to the 3RD century. Uses nomina sacra (An abbreviation, not the full spelling of Jesus).
- Sandals of Jesus first mentioned in the 8TH century. The decorations are indicative of an origin from the Middle Ages.
- Jesus' robes. Several exist, one of them first appears in the 4TH century. The robe at Argenteuil is first mentioned in 1156CE tradition says it was a gift to Charlemagne around 800CE and given to his daughter Theodrada, the abbess of Argenteuil. Where it was preserved at the Church of the Benedictines.
- Crown of Throrns. The oldest mention of the already venerated relic was in the early 5TH century, where it resided in Jerusalem. In the 11TH century it was moved to Constantinople, then it was moved to France in 1248CE. It stayed at the Sainte-Chapelle until the French Revolution, it was then housed in the Bibliothèque Nationale until 1801. It has kept at the Cathedral of Notre-Dame de Paris, until the fire in 2019CE, it was moved to the Lourve temporarily, it was then returned to Notre Dame in 2024CE. Replicas can still still be bought in tourist shops in Jerusalem. It has not been dated using modern scientific testing.
